The glorious Reformation abounds with proofs, b_v which we may be convinced of God's especial inter-ference in behalf of his chosen servant, who, from the beginning of the Reformation until he breathed his last, was the object of the plots and evil designs of the pope and his allies. Had not the Loan, in a very special manner, supported and defended him, when, together with the popish host, the mighty emperor rose up against him, in their wrath they would have destroyed him, and with busy hands would have scattered and de-molished the precious harvest that had been reaped from the seed that was sowed by Lu-ther's sermons and books, As in the days of Mordecai and Esther, by the treacherous schemes of Haman, God's people were all to have been put to death in one day, even so, in the days of the Reformation. the die was cast, which was to determine Luther's fate. Being excommunicated by the so-called head of the church, he was declared an outlaw by the emperor. Thus, we see, Luther found himself in avery dangerous situation and this danger was, perhaps, never greater than immediately...
